April 7 - What is the Gospel?

Scott Talley, Student Pastor

Read: 1 John 1:5-10

Reading daily devotions has been encouraging and challenging for each one of us. Today we are going to look at the Gospel message and how it relates to our lives daily.

What is the Gospel Message?

The Gospel is made up of Jesus’ birth, death, burial, and resurrection. Jesus left the throne of God the Father to take on flesh and bridge the gap between humanity and God. Jesus is not just part of our faith; He is the center of our faith.

Through reading today’s passage, you learn something pivotal to the Gospel message and our life in verse 9. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins. God, the creator of the heavens and earth, wants a relationship with you.

Jesus has conquered all of your past, present, and future sins. Yes, the thing that you keep beating yourself up with daily was defeated by Jesus. The Gospel message is vital for us daily to hear because it reminds us that Jesus has conquered sin, death, fear, failure, our mistakes. When we confess our sins, Jesus will forgive them. But when we keep repeating in our mind and heart a previous sin and mistake in our life, we are acting like what Jesus did on the cross was not enough. Brothers and Sisters, Jesus completely conquered everything on the cross.

We can fully live in Christ when we begin to apply 1 John 1:9 daily to our life and realize that when we confess our sins Jesus is faithful and will forgive us of our sins. Now it is time for you to forgive yourself and begin to live in Christ.

Today is the day, are you ready to own your faith and tell people about how God has rescued you. Right now, take time to confess your sins and examine your life to make sure you are walking in the light and not darkness. Ask Jesus to give you the boldness to share this message with others today.
