Psalm 108:5 - “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth.”
The Psalmist here, in many ways, summarized how Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6:
“This is how you should pray: Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Your name.”
We are to hallow His name. What does that even mean, to hallow? It means that His name be made known as holy and glorious, wonderful, loving, merciful, just, and set apart – that all His attributes be made known, and not just known, but also worshiped, exalted, and enjoyed. We should delight in this.
Is this the driving force behind our prayer life on a daily basis? In all that we do, do we pray that God is exalted above every area of our lives, including self? Do we go about our day and say, “God, glorify Yourself. Let Your glory be made known in my life, in my friends and family’s lives, my workplace, my church, and among more and more people around me.” Do we even pray that His glory be made known to all the earth, just as the Psalmist says?
Today, let your focus be on exalting and glorifying King Jesus. Commune with your Heavenly Father throughout the day, and hallow His name. Let us not be “glory thieves”. Give all glory to Whom it is due.
