1 Samuel 3:11 - Then the Lord said to Samuel: "Behold, I will do something in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.”
Have you ever known a young person to be on fire for the Lord Jesus? The Bible records the stories of Daniel, David, and Samuel as very young lads, teens, who accomplished incredible things for the Lord. Samuel was given to the Lord’s service in the Tabernacle by his mother, Hannah.
The High Priest was a man named Eli. Eli was a passive leader allowing his sons to exploit the people of God, steal from their offerings, and sin against God during their service. These sons of Eli would be around Samuel from an early age. But Samuel loved God with a pure heart despite their corruption and toxic influence. God had a plan to revive His people which involved young Samuel.
The Bible says that the word of the Lord was rare in the days of Samuel. He was the voice amid a people of indifference, immorality, and empty religion. Samuel was faithful. God told him that He was going to do something so outstanding, so dramatic that the ears of many in Israel would tingle.
Have you lost hope for this moment, this generation, this time in history? We may live in a troubled day, but our God is still on the throne. He is at work. Renewal is a work of God among a people. He can raise up fully devoted followers from the toughest of circumstances. He can awaken dead churches and slumbering Christians to serve and sacrifice. Our God will do something. He is calling us to trust Him and serve Him faithfully.
