2 Cor. 6:2 - For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
I am a sucker for books. On vacation, I enjoy going to a bookstore and just looking for hours. My office looks like a library and, frankly, is a library of my books. It has not always been that way for me. Before the Lord called me to preach, I did not read books. When I arrived at the seminary, all things changed for me and books. I attended from 1993 to 1995 to receive my Master’s degree. I remember hearing about a new bookseller from other students. Instead of going to a pricy bookstore, they were buying books from a new mail-order delivery company in Washington state: Amazon.
Today, Amazon is the largest retailer on the planet outside of China, making $610 billion a year. If I would have invested just $5,000 into Amazon in those early days, today it would be worth more than $2.5 million. What a missed opportunity! Our verse for the day speaks to the subject of opportunity.
God has given us an opportunity to be saved from our sins. He opened the door of salvation by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God made a way for you and me. Heaven’s gates are opened wide. But the day will come when the gates will close and the time is at hand. The opportunity to be saved is now. Eternity will be full of regret for those who said to themselves that tomorrow will be the day. Would you trust Jesus Christ now? Behold, now is the day of salvation.
