Apr 17 - Made New

Matthew 28:5-6: “But the angel told the women, “Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.”

Happy Easter. It is Sunday, the first day of the week.

The tomb was sealed. The saints were scared. The enemies of Christ were satisfied that the Nazarene Rabbi was dead. The women were searching for an opportunity to treat the body of Jesus. The angel was sent by the Father to role the stone away. This was not for Jesus to come out of the tomb. The stone had to be removed so that the believers could go in and see that Jesus was gone. The guards were shaken and became like dead men.

An angel announced His conception to Mary: “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name His name Jesus” (Luke 1:31). An angel announced his birth to the shepherds in Bethlehem: “Today, in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:11). And an angel gets to announce His resurrection to the women who had come before daylight to try to gain access.

He’s alive. The truth that has changed the world has changed you and me. His life now lives in you. The first man, Adam, impacted all of us. His sin brought death into the world. We are made in Adam’s image which means we sin, live under the dominion of the law, are born under the power of Satan, and death. But now, Jesus is alive. By faith in Jesus we experience His resurrected life just as we experienced Adam’s death. In Adam we die. In Christ we will be made alive. In Adam we sin. In Christ we live without the power of sin and the penalty of sin. The first Adam brought death. The second Adam, Jesus Christ, has brought life.

He is alive and we are set free. Celebrate! We will live forever. We will see our loved ones again. Sin has not power over me. He’s alive! He’s alive!

Because He lives I can face tomorrow.
