Day 15 - Apr 11

John 12:23-25: “Jesus replied to them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. “I assure you: Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces a large crop. The one who loves his life will lose it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”

On Monday, our Lord and his disciples were approached by some Greeks who came from Bathsaida in Galilee to worship during the Passover festival. They wanted to see Jesus. Jesus spoke these words to these godfearing Greeks who had come for the Jewish Passover. These words became such comfort to the disciples after His death and resurrection. Jesus knew that His imminent death on a despicable cross would be His hour of glorification.

Jesus compared His death to a grain of seed that falls to the ground and dies. Jesus called Himself the Messianic title the Son of Man. The seed of wheat has little value unless it is sown into the ground. Jesus’ life had its maximum value when He died. He took upon flesh to the point of death, even death on the cross.

Jesus applied His death to these Greeks. The same principle applies to all the followers of Jesus. We find our life when we lose it. When our life in this world finds its maximum value and glorification by being sown in death to self that it may be raised in service for others then we find life. Jesus experienced death on our behalf and exemplified the life that we should live.

It’s Monday - may we give our lives for the Lord and His cause of bringing in a great harvest of souls into His kingdom.
