Day 22

Habakkuk 2:4 - "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.”
Have you ever tried to drive in severe fog? My boyhood home was just a few miles from three different lakes. Those lakes and the mountains produced dense fog during certain times of the year. When I started driving, I experienced the challenge of driving in that fog. You could not see twenty feet in front of you on some of those curvy roads. People would run off the road into the ditch, hit cows that had wandered on the road after breaking through the fencing, and have horrible accidents with other cars. Driving demands visibility.
Living demands visibility. Pride obscures the vision needed to live in a righteous way. Pride comes before a fall. Paul said: “Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” Pride reveals itself through our actions. David allowed his pride to lead him into sin that affected his family for the rest of his life.
How can you live a righteous life? How can you live without pride? The righteous lives by faith in God and in His word. When you live by faith, you also can’t see. You choose to not rely on your sight but to trust the Word of God for your sight. You build your life on the rock of God’s word knowing that your future will be secure, your life blessed, and your family saved. Faith is very personal to God because it means that you have trusted what God says knowing that He is worthy of your confidence. He is pleased by our faith. Let’s trust God today for renewal in 2022.
PRAYER FOCUS: Ask God to revive our church that we may exercise a righteous influence in our community and the world in which we live until Jesus comes.
