Day 14
Clayton Cloer, Senior Pastor
Psalm 128:4 - “Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord.”
We celebrate beginnings like birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and Independence Day. We celebrate these beginnings because they mark a new era of blessing, or joy, or life. God defines the beginning of blessing and wisdom as the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We should all fear and respect the Lord. He exists in radiant light with striking purity and terrifying power. His name is above every name. His Word is sharper than a two-edged sword. His glory is above the heavens and the heaven of heavens. He never changes, cannot be limited, will not be stopped. He stands in the solitude of Himself as the Sovereign over all.
Only the fool would not fear the Lord. “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31). God rewards those who fear Him. He rewards you with blessings. Psalm 128 defines these blessings: “You will surely eat what your hands have worked for. You will be happy, and it will go well for you” (v. 2). We can live a happy life when we fear the Lord. We can also have a happy wife: “Your wife will be a fruitful vine within your house” (v. 3). We can have children that are blessed: “your children, like young olive trees around your table” (v. 3). That life can be ours if we only fear the Lord and walk in His ways.
God wants to bless you today and in the future. Fear Him today and walk in His ways and behold, you will be blessed.
PRAYER FOCUS: Pray for a deeper desire in your heart to walk with God and be obedient to His commands and leading in your life.
