Day 5 - Apr 1

1 Peter 5:8: “Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.”

Do you know anyone who has been stalked? I have a relative who began to notice a man near her apartment who was watching her. She would see him at various locations in town. He confronted her, watched her, threatened her, and terrified her. It was disturbing at a level I had never experienced. Law enforcement got involved and the threat faded.

Stalking disturbs any victim. Peter warns all believers that we have an enemy who stalks like a hungry lion. He watches us, studies our habit, seeks our vulnerabilities, and plans an attack. Our enemy preys upon those who lacks vigilance. We must be sober-minded, self-aware of our blind side. We must embrace the reality of a constant and capable threat.

In 1999, I traveled to Yemen to work with our team members seeking to minister to the people through immunization programs throughout the country. On the road between Aden and Saana, we were warned that tribal kidnappers were looking for Americans to abduct and hold for ransom. It was unsettling to say the least. We had an escort and we were alert to the possibility of attack. Our diligence caused their efforts to be thwarted. We made it safely.

You and are on a dangerous road in this world. Our enemy stalks us. Be alert. Pray with urgency and alertness. If we resist the devil then he will flee from us.

Pray alert prayers today. Intercede for your family, your church, and your personal life.
