Day 4 - Mar 31

1 Peter 4:6: “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time”

March Madness, the NCAA men’s basketball championship tournament, concludes this weekend with the Final Four on Saturday and the national championship game on Monday night. Duke University plays the University of North Carolina on Saturday in a semifinal game. Many believe that the rivalry between these two schools and basketball programs is the single greatest rivalry in sports. Duke’s coach, Mike Krzyzewski, retires after this weekend. Both teams have had incredible runs through the tournament to make the Final Four. Ironically, both teams struggled at the end of the year and lost in the ACC tournament. These teams were humbled before they entered the tournament. The humility has given them a hunger, a fight, a coachable spirit, and incredible success.

Humility ushers a person into a healthy place of brokenness and openness. God gives grace to the humble. We resist humility when we should run toward it. The arms of the Lord are reached through the bridge of humility. Pride closes a heart and a doorway to our Lord. God resists the proud.

Are you humble today or self-confident? Are you entreating the face of the Lord or feeling entitled because of what you have done and who you are? God invites you to come in humility. Pray today from a position of humility, in desperate need of the welcoming hands of the Lord. Drop the swag as you enter His presence and come in spiritual sincerity seeking help in your time of need. We come boldly but we come in humility.

Lord, we humble ourselves in your presence and glory in the privilege of coming to You, the King of all Kings and the Lord of all Lords. Hear our cry! Heal our land! Have your way in our church and in our city this holy season.
