Day 3 - Mar 30

1 Peter 4:7: “The end of all things is near, therefore, be alert and sober-minded for prayer.”

I could name names but it is too painful. Names of those people who were killed because they were killed in an accident involving someone texting and driving. One person is more than any of us want to grieve. The CDC said that 8 people a day die in an accident caused by distracted drivers.

In life, there are times when you need to be alert. When you are propelling a 2,800 pound hunk of metal, rubber, and glass down the road at 70 miles an hour, then you need to have both eyes on the road and all of your senses fully engaged in driving. Driving is dangerous and so is living in the last days.

Peter called us to be alert, ready to react to the current perilous situation. He commanded such alertness because the end of all things is near. Jesus is coming again. The context calls for sober-minded praying. The time has come for us to pray and to pray first. The spiritual needs of our families, our city, and our nation have chocked the health out of our relationships. The time has come to pray. Our children need to see a revival in our hearts and lives so that a bridge of grace could be built to their generation. Oh God, send an awakening to us.

Would you pray as we near the holy week? Pray for revival in your family. Invite them for Easter services. Would you wake up and be alert in your prayers. The end of all things is near.
