1 Kings 3:11-13: "Then God said to him: "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days.
Have you ever asked God for something? All of us can say yes. According to the experience of Solomon, God hears our prayers and answers according to what we have asked. Jesus said: “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). Here is how it works: we see something that we need, and we ask God for it. God hears us and answers our prayers. We need wisdom and God grants it. We need food and God provides. We need protection and God is our shield.
Have you ever willfully not asked God for something? God heard what Solomon asked and what he did not ask. His requests were meaningful and his silence on asking for other things that may have been less meaningful made an impression on the Lord. God gave him both because He evidenced wisdom and spiritual discernment.
God answers your prayers. He may not answer when you want or exactly what you want but God answers your prayers. Pray today!
