Day 9

1 Kings 19:11 - Then He said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord." And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice."

Have you ever had a big moment in life? I get to spectate a lot of big moments like weddings, baby dedications, baptisms, and praying to receive Christ. I am often touched by the simplicity of the moment.

God wants to speak into your life as he did to Elijah. He told Elijah to go and stand before the Lord. If you want to hear from God, then put yourself in a place to hear Him. Go to church and stand before the Lord. But do not expect God to be in the strong wind, or the earthquake, or the fire. Some people want God to help them believe with signs and miracles, tingles, goosebumps, and emotional experiences.

God manifested His glorious presence to the doubting Elijah through a still small voice. It was underwhelming, unimpressive, and simple. God works through the simple. His word is the power. He does not have to accompany His word with anything. The Lord is in His word. Obey His word as if it was thundered across the horizon as a sonic boom. Obey His word like it was from the God of the universe.

Tremble at His word today and obey.
